AARP TAX-AIDE VOLUNTEERS GEARING UP FOR BUSY SEASON

The AARP Tax-Aide Program will provide free income tax assistance at the Western CT Area Agency on Aging on Thursdays and Fridays, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, from Thursday, February 2nd through Friday, April 13th, for low to moderate income taxpayers of all ages, with priority to those 60 and older.

Call Judy at (203) 757-5449 to obtain additional information or schedule an appointment with a certified AARP Tax-Aide counselor. All taxpayers should have the following information with them:

· If married, both husband and wife should be present.

· Proof of identity (picture or other documentation).

· Social security number (Social Security Card or Benefit

Statement- Form SSA-1099 for taxpayer and all taxpayer’s dependents.

· Personal check, if available, with bank checking account & routing numbers

· Copy of last year’s Federal and state tax returns.

· All income statements that apply to the taxpayers 2011 Federal and state income taxes.

AARP Tax-Aide is a program of the AARP Foundation, offered in conjunction with the IRS.

Naugatuck Savings Bank Foundation to award $50,000.00 in Community Grants

The Naugatuck Savings Bank Foundation is pleased to announce a Community Awards Program that allows our customers to decide how we award $50,000 to our local communities. Each year, the Naugatuck Savings Bank Foundation receives numerous requests from local charities and non-profit organizations to assist them in meeting their funding needs. As a leading corporate citizen, we believe it is our responsibility to help the communities we live in. Naugatuck Savings Bank values the opinions of our customers so our Foundation wants each customer to cast a vote for a local charity or non-profit organization they feel is deserving of grant money from our Foundation.

The Community Awards Program is open to each Naugatuck Savings Bank customer to cast one vote. Voting will take place from January 3 through March 31, 2012. You can click here to vote online now or obtain a paper ballot in any one of our 15 branches.

The WCAAA is a private, non-profit organization that develops, manages and provides comprehensive programs for seniors, caregivers and individuals with disabilities to maintain their independence and quality of life.

WESTERN CONNECTICUT AGING &

DISABILITY RESOURCE CENTER

INDEPENDENCE NORTHWEST AND THE WESTERN CT. AREA AGENCY ON AGING have been designated as the Aging & Disability Resource Center for the Western CT. area. In partnership, the two agencies refer callers and other clients to each other’s service system through a direct telephone warm transfer system and routinely follow up with referred clients to ensure that benefits & services have been appropriately accessed.

The WCAAA is a private non-profit organization that receives federal and state funds, which are distributed to adult day care centers, local social services agencies, nutrition,

and transportation programs. All programs are available to individuals 60 years or older; some services are targeted to frail, low income and/or minority elderly. Limited services are available to Western CT area residents below age of 60.
